As I stated on my home page, this website is dedicated to a great American designer, Anne Klein.
When Anne Klein established Anne Klein and Co. in 1968, American
sportswear as we know it, really did not exist. Most designers at that
time created 'ensembles', that is, dresses, matching jackets and skirts or
matching dresses and coats, etc. The pieces could not be separated.
Anne Klein is credited with creating American sportswear.
She passionately believed in separates and 'pieces dressing'. If you
bought a piece of clothing from her line this year and came back next
year to buy another piece, the two pieces should go together. This simple concept changed the fashion industry. But is something we take
for granted today.
After only six short years in business, Anne Klein succumbed to breast
cancer and died in 1974. But I believe she is without a doubt the most
recognized American woman designer in this country, if not the world.
Her line of clothes and accessories continues to thrive to this day and
to celebrate the spirit of the American woman.
I am passionate about wardrobe planning - because it works. Inspired by the concept of pieces dressing, I searched for, could not find, and finally created a simple, 3 step formula any woman could easily follow to create a workable wardrobe - with plenty of room to grow.
Wardrobe planning is not a hot topic, I know, although it should be. Having some kind of a wardrobe plan can save you so much time, money and frustration. It is not rocket science. These are the three steps:
* 3 colors;
* 3 pieces;
* 4 ways to coordinate.
It doesn't get any easier than this. The formula does not change and works with any colors you choose. The common denominator is the bottom piece. Start there and you can't go wrong.
You can continue to add colors and pieces to your heart's content. Just don't get too carried away! It can be addictive! Enjoy!
